Install your eSIM

Add it before you travel, switch it on when you land. It takes about five minutes.

Checklist

Before you start

Three things to have ready so the install goes smoothly.

  • A compatible, unlocked device

Your phone or tablet must support eSIM and must not be locked to one carrier.

    Check compatibility
  • A stable internet connection

Installing downloads your eSIM profile, so use Wi-Fi or a reliable connection.

  • Your QR code on another screen

Open your order page on a laptop or tablet, or print it, so your device can scan it.

Step by step

Set up on your device

Choose your device. Do the first part at home on Wi-Fi, the rest when you land.

01

Add the eSIM

Before you travel, on Wi-Fi

  1. Open your order page or the email we sent you on another screen, so you can scan the QR code.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → Add eSIM.
  3. Choose Use QR Code and scan the code. On iOS 17.4 or later you can instead tap Install on this iPhone from the order page on the same phone.
  4. If the camera will not scan, choose Enter Details Manually and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your order page.
  5. When asked, label the new line Teletum so it is easy to find later.

Keep the eSIM installed for the whole trip. Most eSIMs can only be installed once.

02

Set up the lines

Straight after installing

  1. Keep your usual line as the default for calls and messages.
  2. Under Mobile Data, choose your usual line for now so you are not charged before the trip.
  3. Turn off Allow Mobile Data Switching, so your phone does not fall back to your home line abroad.
03

Connect when you land

In your destination

  1. Go to Settings → Mobile Service and make sure the Teletum line is turned on.
  2. Set Mobile Data to Teletum.
  3. Open the Teletum line and switch on Data Roaming. This is needed even though you are on a travel eSIM.
  4. Keep Data Roaming off on your home line to avoid charges from your usual carrier.
  5. Give it a minute to connect. If nothing happens, switch Airplane Mode on and off.

Check your plan page for when validity starts. Most plans start when the eSIM first connects in your destination, but some start on installation.

Questions

Common questions

When should I install my eSIM?
Install it a day or two before you leave, while you are on reliable Wi-Fi. For most plans, validity starts when the eSIM first connects in your destination, so installing early does not use any of it. If your plan page says validity starts on installation or purchase, install it shortly before you travel.
Can I keep using my normal SIM?
Yes. The eSIM sits alongside your physical SIM, so you can still receive calls and texts on your usual number. Keep data roaming off on your home line to avoid charges.
Should I delete the eSIM after my trip?
Wait until your plan has ended or you are home. Once deleted, an eSIM usually cannot be installed again, so do not remove it to troubleshoot.
The QR code will not scan. What can I do?
Make sure the code is fully on screen and your phone is on Wi-Fi. If it still fails, use the manual option and paste the details from your order page. On iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later you can also tap Install on this iPhone.
